RJ HAMER ARBORETUM

Public BBQ

RJ Hamer Arboretum in Olinda's hills has stunning valley vistas from the car park alone. Walking trails wind through towering conifers and native bushland, with the main circuit taking roughly two hours for leisurely exploration. Autumn transforms the landscape into something painterly, as brilliant red leaves create dramatic contrasts against the evergreen canopy. Winter maintains the spectacle with crimson-leafed trees most prominent near the car park area. The facility provides barbecue tables and public toilets, making it ideal for families seeking a quiet retreat. A small pond attracts wildlife, including tadpoles in summer months. The terrain includes some steeper sections, though most visitors find the trails manageable. The serene atmosphere appeals to dog walkers and photographers alike, with the nearby Olinda Tea House convenient for post-walk refreshments. This spot delivers year-round beauty whether bathed in sunshine or shrouded in mountain mist.
